“Change is the only constant in life.” — Heraclitus

Change has come to the West Side Democrats. Flora Lucero was elected Chair of the Democratic Party of Bernalillo County on April 6 and resigned as chair of WSD on April 24. During her tenure our membership increased from about 16 to 85. The number of people volunteering for WSD went from 4 to 16. Meeting attendance went from perhaps 12 to, in some cases, 80 or more, due to a series of programs about issues that concern us as Democrats. We now have active presences on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. And we have a website. The residents of the West Side wanted to become active and involved. Flora gave them a reason to look to the West Side Democrats as the right place to make that happen.

Thank you, Flora, for pushing the West Side Democrats to become a vital organization.

But, even though Flora has moved to different, larger responsibilities, the West Side Democrats must continue what she started. We intend to continue to show westsiders that this is the place that has meaning for them. That West Side Democrats is important to their lives, and is a vehicle through which they can become active and involved. And through that grassroots involvement, become empowered!

So be on notice. We want you. We want you as a partner on our journey. We want you to participate. We want you to volunteer. We want you to join us as we work toward achievement of our common goals.
