I am devastated and depressed over the election. I just want to give up and say to hell with it. Do you feel that way?
But you and I know we can’t give up. We must fight for our country. And we can start right here on the West Side. Let’s focus on what we can do locally.
Let’s build on our successes and broaden our horizons.
Every race but one was won on the West Side. This includes the one to send Gabe Vasquez back to Congress.
Take pride in our victories! The legislators we elected are WSD members and our friends. We can help them achieve their goals. Doing so helps build our community and strengthen our relationships with one another.
We can serve the community on the West Side in nonpolitical ways, building trust in us both as Democrats and as West Side Dems.
Later in 2025 we have other elections: for school board, for city council, and for mayor. Let’s make sure we have school board members, city counselors, and a mayor who support our values. We have proven that we have the power to prevail in these elections.
So let’s go forward, determined to elect candidates who will support our values and fulfill both our needs and those of our West Side neighbors.
Let’s reach out to marginalized communities here on the West Side and support those who are also in pain after the election.
Let’s organize so we’re ready to fight and win the battle for governor, U.S. Senator, local legislative offices, and those who have contests in 2026.
Together we cannot be beaten.
