WEST SIDE SUMMERFEST – Thanks to the 12 volunteers who helped out at both booths at Summerfest – a WSD booth and a voter registration booth. (Photo shows volunteers Camille Varoz, Sue Wolinsky and Diana Shea with Mayor Tim Keller at the booth.) We had 9 people sign up for the WSD newsletter and we registered >20 potential voters. The big lesson learned is that most folks registered or updated the record ONLINE, using cellphones and 2 tablets that Liam Paul brought from the NM Voter Group.

The message to all of us: YOU can help anyone register online, any time. Just refer them to the NM Secretary of State website, then click on Voter Registration. The screen path is straightforward.

WSD’s PARTICIPATE IN DPBC LETTER-WRITING CAMPAIGN URGING VOTERS TO REGISTER

We helped write more than 780 letters to Arizonans on Aug. 18 at the DPBC office downtown. This campaign was initiated by West Sider Damian Lara in conjunction with SwingLeft, in response to the mass shooting in El Paso.  It was organized by Nancy Carr. The photo shows a group of letter writers at the DPBC office.

DPBC WARD VOTER REGISTRATION CHALLENGE – Calling all West Side Dems to help their ward win the challenge during September. The grand prize is $250 from DPBC for ward use. DPBC leaders contacted Ward chairs with information in mid-August. See the DPBC Blue Review for details.  Contact Sue Wolinsky, WSD Voter Registration coordinator, if you are interested or have questions.
