MAY DAY PROTEST

By Sue Wolinsky

The big MAY DAY PROTEST in Albuquerque is this Friday at Civic Plaza. It is expected to be bigger than the May Day protest held here last year. A protest was also held in Santa Fe last year. WSD is supporting this event.

“West Side Dems is supporting this community action wholeheartedly,” said WSD Chair Dorothy Wilkinson.“ We will be hosting a WSD table where protestors can learn about the good work that we do. We need a few volunteers to help out at the table. Contact me here if you can help.

We also encourage our members to participate in any way they can.In the spirit of MAY DAY 2026, we have canceled our May TGIF (scheduled for May 1). Join us in next time in June.

What MAY DAY 2026 Is about

“May Day Strong organizers are amplifying the call for no work, no school, no shopping that anchored Minnesota’s Day of Truth and Freedom on 23 January, bringing millions of protesters out to demand an end to ICE’s occupation in their cities, according to this article from The Guardian—”What is May Day Strong, the ‘no work, no school, no shopping’ protests against Trump?” which explains it in simple terms.
